14-year-old child genius is university’s youngest employee to teach math to adult students

A 14-year-old boy is now studying for a maths degree while teaching math to adults at a university in the UK, and guess what makes him happy—he no longer needs to wear the school uniform. Yasha Asley became the youngest student to be hired by the University of Leicester to run tutorials for adult students who need help with solving math problems while being a degree student himself, the  Daily Mail  reported. He graduated from primary school and got a place in the university at the age of 12 in 2014 to study for a maths degree. He is now in his final year and is planning to start studying for a Ph.D. He was offered the job when he was 13 years old after attending an interview. As he was too young, the staff at the university had to request for special permission from the Leicester city council to employ him. BREAKING: Senate orders arrest of CEOs of Glo, Indomie, CCECC, 27 others

The Senate Friday made good its threat to get the chief executive officers of 30 companies arrested for allegedly failing to appear before it. The arrest order was issued by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs, Excise and Tariff and Marine Transport Hope Uzodinma, at the committee’s meeting in Abuja yesterday. The committee accuses the companies including mobile giant Globacom, Crown Flour Mills, British American Tobacco, CCECC, Dana Group, Olam Int. Ltd., Hong Xing Steel Co. Ltd., Vodafone, African Wire, Star Comments and Allied Ltd. and Aarti Steel Nig. Ltd of involvement in Nigeria’s loss of  N30 trillion-revenue in the maritime sector. Others are Abyem-Diva Int. Ltd., Gagasel Int., Friesland Campina, Etco Nig., Edic Chemicals and Allied Distributors, De United Foods makers of popular Indomie noodles, Don Climax Group, Skill G Nig. Ltd., Premium Seafood and La Rauf Nig. Ltd.

Official: Nigeria Senate Votes Yes To Delete NYSC From Constitution – NO NYSC from 2018?

This is the question in the heart of Nigerian students and parents, as this event unfold in our eyes.  The Nigeria Senate has voted to remove the compulsory  National Youth Service Scheme  from the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This news has been trailed by Nigerians for been good and same time bad. In twitter platform, where Nigerians are allowed to express their thought in 150 words, some said that this is good news for many young Nigerians, while others claim it’s bad. However it doesn’t mean that NYSC is now not compulsory for university leavers. This is a first step in allowing the Nigerian lawmakers to amend the NYSC decree. This development comes as many Nigerian youth claim that they are fed up with the non-productive nature of the scheme, and have long since been clamoring for its termination. Police Confirm At Least 11 Killed In Anambra Church Attack

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the death of 11 persons after gunmen attacked St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, Anambra State. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Garba Umar, told Channels Television on Sunday that the gunmen went into the church during an early morning mass and shot sporadically at worshippers. According to him, many people were injured in the attack while some of the victims died on their way to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi. Mr Umar, however, explained that the attack was not unconnected to what he described as gang violence.

Transfer students shall make a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.95 on a 5.00 point scale to quality for consideration and should not have spent more than two (2) academic sessions in his or her former university.
